Something light to tide us all over - I tire of all the concrete and neon lights of that new city.

Do we want to throw in food?
Hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, the summer usuals?
Maybe drag out the lawn games from storage for the kids?

Food would be good; something universal that people can bond over. The usual would be fine, but there must be vegetarian options too. [ After all, Aang should come! She likes that child. ]

Do you think they'll like the games? It's been a while since we've had to referee anything other than a quick game of pool.

I think it couldn't hurt. More incentive for the kids to come. Plus, it's an opportunity for Laura to do some things more her age, with people her age.

We can ask the boys if they could manage the grill station.
I know they aren't from home, but back there, they hadn't minded.

I am giving Scott and Logan an advance notice, so they don't get too surprised to come and find the mansion suddenly so occupied.

At the end—in those terrible moments—there'd been noise.
Fire. Fight—a unity even on the cusp of being snuffed out.

But after? She had been alone after. Lost.
In her mind. In the White Hot Room.

It's strange, isn't it? I both wish it weren't so quiet and do not want everyone to have to deal with whatever is happening here until we know more.

A little frivolous escapism can't hurt. Just for a while. [ A moment to catch their collective breath, as it were. ]

I think that's what this place is, or can be, when we aren't worrying about these missions. We can't go on in constant worry, after all.

[ She pauses thoughtfully, and makes a little sound of concern. ]

If there's too many people, you don't have to come. I know it might get overwhelming, having so many so close.

[ It's lightly joking, with a simple smile—but there's no lie to it. A few dozen yards away from a handful of people would do little to stop her from hearing them, the town, or the other two bubbles. Still, that smile is true; she lets one side stay tucked up. ]

I'll take a break during it if anything becomes a problem, but I'd very much like to be there.

[ She rolls her eyes on her side of the call, smiling fondly. She was trying to give her an easy out, and Ororo knew she could handle hosting a party that was technically her idea alone... but of course Jean wouldn't take it. ]

[ It is kind of him, and there's a wave of warmth—uncomplicated fondness—that passes, unheeded between them for it. Jean closes her book, and leans back in her chair. ]

[ There's a concern that nebulously settles as Jean doesn't consider sensoring her feelings. ]
