[ For shame, Jean, you're literally the one who tells Ororo to do the very same! She's just involving a few more people this time. ]

If things ever get too rowdy, I'll ask you to kindly blanket everyone with a little calm.

I am giving Scott and Logan an advance notice, so they don't get too surprised to come and find the mansion suddenly so occupied.

This bunch hasn't seemed much for that yet, have they?
Not that this place has given them much chance for anything like it.

That sounds smart, given we can't be sure what they were used to at their school yet.

I'm sure it was fuller than it is now for them, at the very least. It's all still uncannily quiet, and I miss the noise and bustle.

[ So maybe this will help. Or maybe that's just an excuse. ]

I miss it, too. This place was so rarely quiet.
[ Except when she was very young. Or when they were leaving it behind. ]

The same with Krakoa.

she can't quite make out in the wash of her memories from just before coming here. ]

[ Ororo's not sure if she's misinterpreting something, but there's something odd in Jean's words. ]

Was it quiet for you? From what you last remember?

[ She'd been careful not to pry. What should she be knowing of what waits for her, after all? ]

[ Jean shakes her head easily enough.
At the end—in those terrible moments—there'd been noise.
Fire. Fight—a unity even on the cusp of being snuffed out.


But after? She had been alone after. Lost.
In her mind. In the White Hot Room.

Trying to find an answer. ]

It's strange, isn't it? I both wish it weren't so quiet and do not want everyone to have to deal with whatever is happening here until we know more.

A little frivolous escapism can't hurt. Just for a while. [ A moment to catch their collective breath, as it were. ]

I think that's what this place is, or can be, when we aren't worrying about these missions. We can't go on in constant worry, after all.

[ She pauses thoughtfully, and makes a little sound of concern. ]

If there's too many people, you don't have to come. I know it might get overwhelming, having so many so close.

Might as well say that about the whole planet.

[ It's lightly joking, with a simple smile—but there's no lie to it. A few dozen yards away from a handful of people would do little to stop her from hearing them, the town, or the other two bubbles. Still, that smile is true; she lets one side stay tucked up. ]

I'll take a break during it if anything becomes a problem, but I'd very much like to be there.

[ She rolls her eyes on her side of the call, smiling fondly. She was trying to give her an easy out, and Ororo knew she could handle hosting a party that was technically her idea alone... but of course Jean wouldn't take it. ]
